One entry for each turn of the water
The water in Nanoose Bay rises and falls close to four metres in a day. That is what makes the beach in front of the house two different places: a sand flat you can walk at low water and a launch for the kayaks when it comes back in.

The water at the top of the beach.
At the top of the tide the water is a few steps from the lawn and you hear it from the house. The bedrooms upstairs are made for cool nights and peaceful sleeps, with the sound of the rolling waves through the window.

The flat.
At low water the beach in front of the house is a sand flat that runs out toward the point. Walk it barefoot. When the tide comes back it comes in over warm sand, which is why the water here is warmer than you expect.

Launch from the beach.
With the water back at the top of the beach, the kayaks and paddle boards go straight in from the sand into calm, sheltered water. Eagles soar overhead. If paddling is not your day, the chair by the window has the binoculars.

Fire on the beach, then the sauna.
A beach fire, then the private sauna under the trees, then the hot tub. The water turns while you sleep and will be back at the top of the beach before you wake.

The sourdough is not only for guests. We bake it fresh, shaped by hand and in small batches, and anyone can order a loaf through the same form guests use. We reply with availability times.

Nanoose Bay, between Nanaimo and Parksville
Nanoose Bay is a quiet peninsula on the east coast of Vancouver Island. Most of what you want is a short drive, and the rest is a walk along the beach or through the forest, where you will see deer and birds.

- Wall Beach Rock formations and colourful sea stars, easy to reach at low water.
- Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park Three kilometres of sand near Parksville, a forest loop trail, and more than 150 bird species.

Paradise by the bay. Our stay in the home was incredible, and so peaceful and special. There is no place like it. The home is beautiful, and the view from it is one of spectacular beauty. Eagles soaring overhead, and the sand goes out so far, and comes in with warm water with the tide.
The home is fabulously done inside, all the bedrooms are wonderfully decorated, and the sound of the rolling waves is perfect. The kitchen is great, the view from it is one of a kind. I can’t recommend this beach house more, it’s heaven, and you won’t want to leave.
